HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR 1st DAY

FAQs During the First Week of School

1. COMPLETE REGISTRATION - Families register at their full-time school to ensure students don’t have issues with accessing their courses.  Full-time JVA families, click here to view steps.  Part-time families, see communications from your full-time school.

2. CHECK YOUR SCHEDULE - Your schedule in the Family Portal is the schedule and courses you have with JVA.  YOU WILL SEE CLASS TIMES NEXT TO JVA CLASSES BUT THEY ARE IRRELEVANT. Our classes are asynchronous - students are not required to be logged in at any particular time.  We’ve asked these times be removed, but for whatever reason, they cannot be hidden from family view. Here’s how to view yours (or watch this video to see the steps in action): 

1. Log into Family Portal

2. Select our school name towards the top where their other school name may be listed (toggle option)

3. Select Schedule on the left side - students that take courses at multiple schools will need to bring up their schedules individually at each school; they are not listed together on one schedule. 

4. LOG INTO JEFFCO SCHOOLOGY - Guardians & students need to log into http://jeffco.schoology.com with their own individual account information to ensure successful login before school starts.  Directions to password reset: Password Reset for Students & Families - if you need login assistance, contact us at 303-982-6770.

5. REVIEW SCHOOLOGY - Click on this link to watch a Schoology basics video (about 12 minutes): Schoology Basics Video.  It will walk you through the basics of Schoology, such as logging in, navigation around your home page, how to access your courses, notifications, etc.

6. PREPARE YOUR WORKSPACE - You are in control of your physical environment and your teachers are in control of the online environment.  It's important that you set up a comfortable work space that's equipped to help you focus.  Use these resources to help you: Your Learning Space & our School Supply List.
